The Restaurant at Meadowood - St-Helena, California

The restaurant at Meadowood in Napa Valley is quite a special place. After turning off the historical Silverado Trail and driving through a picturesque narrow road of olive trees, there lies The Meadowood Resort. Through the restaurant's heavy wood doors guests are welcomed into a large and cozy library-like lounge where we enjoyed great cocktails (mixed with the use of in house cordials and bitters) and previewed the wine list before dinner. To some people's intrigue, and other's annoyance, the tasting menu is not known ahead of time, nor is the next dish announced, which creates a challenge, and slight frustration, for wine enthusiasts. I suppose they can do what they want, as Meadwood is in a class of it's own with three coveted Michelin Stars, yes, three. The World's Best Restaurants 2016 list see's The Restaurant at Meadowood move up five spots from 72 in 2015 to 67 this year. Last, but not least it also holds the Relais & Chateaux accreditation. Visiting during the crush season, September, fresh ingredients were plentiful, and the personalized menu changes frequently. It was clear that every dish was put together like a piece of art. The meal ended with an invitation to visit the immaculate kitchen where each chef  was dedicated to his/her own dish. The candied fruits and vedgetables disappeared before I was able to snap a photo.
